Dejounte Murray made a triumphant return to NBA courts after thirteen months away. The New Orleans Pelicans guard contributed to the 113-109 victory over the Golden State Warriors, scoring 13 points in 25 minutes of play in his first game since his Achilles tendon rupture on January 31, 2025.

The point guard immediately showed he hadn’t lost any of his skills, converting a driving layup less than 20 seconds after the start of the game. He finished his performance with another decisive basket with 1:04 remaining on the clock, giving the Pelicans a five-point lead.

Zion Williamson shines with 26 points in a collective victory

Zion Williamson led the Pelicans offense with 26 points and 6 rebounds, including 10 crucial points in the final quarter. The power forward notably hit his first 3-pointer of the season against the Warriors, after only three attempts this season.

Saddiq Bey contributed 18 points and 6 rebounds, including a decisive reverse layup that gave the Pelicans a 107-101 lead with 1:47 remaining. Jordan Poole, a former Warriors player, added 12 points against his old team.

On the Golden State side, without Stephen Curry (right knee), Kristaps Porzingis (illness) and Al Horford (left toe), De’Anthony Melton scored 28 points and Moses Moody 24 points. Despite their efforts, the Warriors struggled from 3-point range with only 11 makes on 45 attempts (24.4%).

« I’ve been through a lot. I kept my chest out, head held high and a smile on my face. I’m ready to see where it takes me, » Murray said after the game. Coach James Borrego was full of praise: « He looked the same as before, like he hadn’t missed anything. For a first game, I felt he was present on both ends of the floor. »

With 23 games remaining in the regular season, Murray is already showing his ambitions: « I’m hungry. I’m starving. » This victory gives the Pelicans their fourth win in six games, while the Warriors see their road struggles continue with an 11-17 record away from home.
