The Memphis Grizzlies are going through a particularly turbulent period, and the European trip to Berlin is not helping the franchise’s internal affairs. Ja Morant and Vince Williams Jr were caught in an intense verbal confrontation during a training session, witnessed by numerous journalists present on site.
The video of the altercation, which quickly went viral on social media, shows a tense one-minute exchange between the two players, requiring staff intervention to calm things down. According to lip reading relayed on social platforms, Morant allegedly said: « That’s how it is, I don’t know you. I don’t care about any of you, I don’t care. » Williams Jr responded: « Let’s go to the back, let’s go backstage. » Morant then retorted: « Why? I’m just here. You’ve been here for 5 minutes. I’m just here. You’re not that kind of guy. »

This public altercation comes in an already explosive context for the Grizzlies point guard. Officially placed on the trade list, Morant is experiencing a complicated season, limited to only 18 games played due to injuries and a notable drop in production. His relationship with the organization seems permanently compromised.
Tim MacMahon confirmed the extent of the fracture in his podcast: « Ja Morant already had a very loud and ugly confrontation with his rookie coach. Everyone in that arena, not to mention the locker room, knows they (Grizzlies) want to get rid of him. And the feeling is mutual. It’s gotten to a point where Ja Morant’s career can’t continue in Memphis. »
The tensions are not new, as the point guard was already suspended for one game last November following critical comments about the coaching staff. This new filmed dispute highlights an electric climate surrounding the Tennessee franchise, raising questions about team cohesion.
According to information from journalist Damichael Cole, Morant reportedly purchased a $3.2 million house in Miami last December, with Miami being announced as his priority destination in case of a trade. With the NBA deadline approaching, this saga should reach its conclusion in the coming days.
