The Golden State Warriors snapped their skid with a 125–117 win over the Washington Wizards on Monday night at Capital One Arena. The victory ends a five-game losing streak for Golden State, while extending Washington’s slide to 12 straight losses.

Kristaps Porzingis led the way with 30 points in just 26 minutes, tying his season high. The former Wizards big man took full advantage of Alexandre Sarr’s absence in the paint, scoring efficiently and controlling the interior.

“He’s just getting his legs back,” Steve Kerr said after the game. “He told you the last few games he was feeling more comfortable and starting to find his rhythm. You could see it — he was scoring so easily.”

De’Anthony Melton also turned in an outstanding performance, finishing with 27 points on 12-of-17 shooting. He largely stayed away from the three-point line (0/2), attacking the rim instead, and delivered one of the highlights of the night with a poster dunk over Sharife Cooper late in the third quarter. “I took that rest day yesterday and just wanted to come here and bring energy for my teammates,” Melton told Warriors Radio.

The win also marked a milestone for Steve Kerr, who earned his 600th career victory in just 943 regular-season games. Only Phil Jackson (805), Pat Riley (832) and Gregg Popovich (887) reached that mark faster. “It’s surreal to hear my name in that group,” Kerr said. “But I can tell you one thing that connects us all — it’s talent. You can’t win in this league without great players, and I’ve been lucky to have incredible talent from day one.”

On the Wizards’ side, Trae Young scored 21 points in just 21 minutes before leaving the game with a quadriceps injury, while Bilal Coulibaly impressed with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists on 70% shooting, including a perfect mark from beyond the arc. Despite their efforts, Washington was unable to close the gap, never getting within five points in crunch time.

Short-handed without Stephen Curry (right knee) and Jimmy Butler (torn ACL), the Warriors now head to Boston to face the Celtics on Wednesday, looking to build on this much-needed win as they continue their push for a Western Conference play-in spot.
