Gavin Ware, new Limoges center: « France has become my second home »

Signed last week by Limoges CSP, Gavin Ware (2.06m, 31 years old) is no stranger to France. The American center, who has already spent six seasons in France, gave a lengthy interview to EuroBasket where he discusses his journey, his memorable stints in Dijon and his attachment to French basketball.
« France is definitely a home away from home »
After starting his professional career in Belgium, Gavin Ware moved to France in 2017, joining Levallois. Since then, he has played for Gravelines and especially Dijon, where he had three different stints. « France is definitely a home away from home. (…) Six years later, now I feel like a local French man, » he says. While admitting he hasn’t fully mastered the language yet, the American feels fully integrated.
In Dijon, he says he found a structured and supportive environment. « Things are done right, with the JDA identity. (…) People are caring and have your best interest at heart, » he confides, highlighting the support from fans, coaches and teammates.
Strong memories with Holston, Dokossi and Gravelines
Among his memorable moments, Gavin Ware mentions his chemistry with David Holston, « an incredible point guard who holds his teammates accountable, » and his good relationship with Allan Dokossi, whose athletic abilities he admires.
He also hasn’t forgotten his time at Gravelines-Dunkerque, during the Covid-19 pandemic: « Everything was closed except the gym. I spent a lot of time there, » he recalls.
Consistency as a trademark
In six seasons in France, Gavin Ware has maintained remarkably consistent statistics, averaging around 12 points and 6 rebounds per game. « It’s very important to maintain this level of consistency. (…) It’s a business: if I want to succeed and live comfortably, I have to do my job, » he explains.
At Limoges, this reliability will be valuable for a team seeking stability in the paint.
