Dillon Brooks, forward for the Phoenix Suns, is known for his long-standing rivalry with Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James. During a recent appearance on Agent 00‘s livestream, Brooks explained why he finds it so easy to provoke James at this stage of his career.

A Less Fearsome LeBron James According to Brooks

« If this was LeBron from five years ago, it would be different. Maybe even six years ago. Miami LeBron, you don’t really talk to him like that, because back then it was blow-bys, dunks, he had more game, more agility, » Brooks revealed.

The Suns forward continued: « Now, he’s like, as I’ve always said, he’s old. You can pressure him, cut off his access to certain areas. You know the moves he’s going to make, so you can always talk a little trash. » It’s clear the Suns forward picks his battles.

Statistics That Speak in Favor of the King

Despite his attempts to provoke LeBron James, Dillon Brooks hasn’t had much success in head-to-head matchups with the Lakers superstar. In 26 meetings, James dominates with a record of 17 wins to 9 losses.

Statistically, James crushes the comparison with averages of 23.1 points, 8.0 rebounds and 6.6 assists per game. Meanwhile, Brooks posts 12.8 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists against the four-time NBA champion. This season, while Brooks is having his best career year averaging 20.5 points, the « old » James is still averaging 22.5 points per game.
