Fenerbahçe continued its winning streak with a convincing victory on Baskonia’s court (108-93) during the 19th round of EuroLeague. The Turkish champions made the difference in the fourth quarter thanks to a series of 3-pointers that crushed the Spanish team’s hopes.

Wade Baldwin leads Fenerbahçe’s offensive charge

Wade Baldwin was the main architect of this victory with 24 points and 7 assists. Italian Nicolo Melli contributed 17 points, while former Strasbourg player Bonzie Colson and Tarik Biberovic each added 16 points. On Baskonia’s side, Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot was very prolific in the first half (16 points, 18 efficiency rating) before finishing with 20 points on 5/14 shooting, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 5 fouls drawn for 22 efficiency rating, supported by Kobi Simmons and his 16 points. Clément Frisch only played 6 minutes 32 seconds, time enough to grab 3 rebounds.

The game was particularly competitive during the first three quarters, with the teams neck and neck and a sustained offensive pace on both sides. Neither team had managed to create a 10-point gap until the middle of the third quarter, when Baskonia took the lead (77-67).

Baskonia had taken a 10-point lead

It was precisely at that moment that the Basque team began to falter. Fenerbahçe reversed the situation with a run at the end of the third quarter (82-85), before definitively pulling away thanks to a series of 3-pointers at the start of the fourth period (87-99). This sequence proved fatal for Baskonia, which never managed to get back into the game.

With this third consecutive victory, Fenerbahçe improves its record to 12 wins and 6 losses and will host Olympiacos in Istanbul in the next game. Meanwhile, Baskonia remains stuck at the bottom of the standings with a record of 6 wins and 13 losses, tied with four other teams. The Basque team will face Bayern Munich in four days.
