The Calgary Surge finally broke through on Tuesday night. After dropping their first 10 games of the season, they held off the Brampton Honey Badgers 102-99 in a tightly contested CEBL matchup, with the final margin telling only part of the story. While Brampton brought star power, Calgary answered with balance — and that made all the difference.
Calgary’s Depth Proves Too Much for Brampton
Sean Miller-Moore led the Surge with a game-high 19 points, adding 4 rebounds and 3 assists in just over 31 minutes. His steady presence set the tone, but Calgary’s strength was never about one player. Armani Chaney contributed 16 points and 5 assists, providing both scoring punch and playmaking from the backcourt. He also hit the game winning shot from behind the arc at the buzzer.

Olumide Adelodun added 13 points in only 17 minutes off the bench, while Marlon Johnson Jr. posted a well-rounded 12-point, 6-rebound performance. Addison Patterson chipped in 10 points in under 19 minutes, rounding out an impressive five-man double-figure night for the Surge.
That kind of collective output is difficult for any opponent to neutralize, and Brampton found no answer for it down the stretch. For a team searching for answers after a disastrous start, this victory could prove to be a turning point.
Tyson and Nolley Lead a Strong Honey Badgers Effort
Brampton was far from passive. Cameron Tyson was the game’s leading scorer with 26 points and 4 rebounds in 34 minutes, while Landers Nolley II delivered a near-complete performance with 21 points, 4 rebounds, and 8 assists. Together, they accounted for 47 of Brampton’s 99 points, a remarkable individual duo effort that nearly carried the Honey Badgers to a road win.
Keon Ambrose-Hylton added 13 points and 5 rebounds, Tyrese Hunter contributed 12 points off a limited 19-minute stint, and Joshua Omojafo was a force on the glass with 11 points and 9 rebounds. On paper, Brampton’s production was more than enough to win most games — just not this one.
The problem for the Honey Badgers was structural. With Tyson and Nolley carrying such a heavy offensive load, Calgary could focus its defensive attention and absorb the pressure more efficiently. The Surge’s five-man scoring distribution gave Brampton no single player to key in on, creating mismatches throughout the lineup.
In the end, 102-99 reflects just how competitive this CEBL matchup was. But Calgary’s ability to get contributions up and down the roster proved to be the decisive factor, securing a hard-fought home victory and sending a clear message about their depth heading deeper into the season.
