Brandon Taylor leaves La Coruña and joins Virtus Bologna

From one extreme to another, it’s just a step. Officially relegated with La Coruña, last in Liga Endesa, Brandon Taylor (1.78m, 31 years old) leaves the Galician club to sign in Italy with Virtus Bologna, currently leading the Italian championship. The former Le Mans (2019-2020) and BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque (2021-2022) point guard reached an agreement to terminate his contract with the Spanish bottom team, the club announced on social media.

Taylor leaves La Coruña after a final game with 17 points and 7 assists, but a loss against Bilbao that condemned the promoted team to return to Primera FEB. With their fate already sealed, the club released their player, who averaged 13.3 points, 2 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game. The Liga’s third-best passer leaves La Coruña after a failed survival bid, mainly due to injuries to several key players. Signed in January, Thomas Heurtel (1.89m, 36 years old) only played eight games before requiring meniscus surgery, ending his season, and Trey Thompkins (2.08m, 34 years old) also missed several games.
Brandon Taylor’s season isn’t over, as he joins Virtus Bologna, where Isaïa Cordinier (1.96m, 28 years old) plays. With the Serie A leaders, the American will start playoffs this Sunday, May 18, for the first quarter-final game against Venice. Bologna’s ambitions are high: winning a title that has eluded them since 2021.
