Anthony Edwards has just written a new page in NBA history. During the Minnesota Timberwolves’ 131-122 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers Thursday night, the 24-year-old star crossed the symbolic 10,000 career points mark with a mid-range fadeaway from the baseline.
At 24 years and 156 days old, Edwards becomes the third youngest player in league history to reach this prestigious milestone. Only LeBron James (23 years and 59 days) and Kevin Durant (24 years and 33 days) have done better than him. This performance places him in a very select group of seven players who crossed 10,000 points before age 25, alongside Kobe Bryant, Luka Dončić, Tracy McGrady and Carmelo Anthony.
ANTHONY EDWARDS Officially Has 10,000 All Time Points, 3rd Youngest to Reach 10K behind Kevin Durant & LeBron James.

A remarkable performance despite Edwards’ modesty
Despite this historic feat, Edwards remains humble about this achievement. « To be honest, it’s cool, but I know I still have a long way to go, so it’s really nothing, actually, » the player said after the game. « I’m a little disappointed to have passed Kobe. I would have liked to wait 100 more days or something like that, but hey, it is what it is. »
This memorable evening was accompanied by an exceptional collective performance by the Timberwolves, who set season records with 57% field goal shooting (51/89) and 53% from 3-point range (20/38). Edwards contributed 25 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds, shooting 50% (10/20) and 57% from 3-point range (4/7).
Coach Chris Finch was quick to highlight his player’s natural talent: « Scoring comes naturally to him in many ways, » he said, recalling Edwards’ first 40-point game during his rookie season in Phoenix.
Selected first overall in the 2020 draft and having started at age 19, Edwards reached this milestone in 412 games, making him the 28th fastest player in NBA history and seventh among active players. In Timberwolves history, only Kevin Garnett and Karl-Anthony Towns had crossed this mark before him.
