Yannis Morin (2.08m, 31 years old) continues his career in Japan. After an already busy 2024-2025 season between the Japanese championship with Akita and a playoff stint in the Canary Islands for Liga Endesa playoffs, the Martinican center has signed with Toyama Grouses for the 2025-2026 season.

A new challenge in the Japanese archipelago

Yannis Morin’s return to Japan follows a 2024-2025 season where he proved his consistency and impact. With Akita, he played 60 games, averaging 10.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 2 assists for a 16.7 efficiency rating in 26 minutes per game. This notable performance allowed the former Cholet youth academy player to secure a contract for the Liga Endesa playoffs with Tenerife.

During his stint in Spain, the Martinican played in five playoff games, averaging 4.6 points, 4 rebounds, and 2.2 assists. This was enough to keep Japanese recruiters interested.

Official signing with Toyama

On Thursday, August 1st, Toyama Grouses officially announced Yannis Morin’s signing for the 2025-2026 season. The Japanese club stated in its press release that the agreement is subject to successful medical examinations and usual administrative formalities. The French international’s name was also removed from the B.League’s free agents list at 3:00 PM that same day.

Already well-acclimated to Japanese basketball, Yannis Morin will embark on a new adventure in the archipelago, aiming to confirm his position among the league’s top-rated centers.
