On the eve of their EuroBasket 2025 opener against Belgium, Team France displays rare serenity. The players keep repeating it: the atmosphere and cohesion are there. And for Guerschon Yabusele, appointed captain of Les Bleus for this campaign, this chemistry could make the difference.

A united and experienced group

The captain emphasized the continuity and bonds created between players in recent years. « Obviously, teams are different each year. In our current group, several of us are the same age and we’re the oldest in the team », explains Guerschon Yabusele (6’8″, 29 years old).

This shared experience, gained during past competitions, has helped strengthen relationships. « We all know each other already. Most of us have competed together before », continues the New York Knicks power forward.

A shared ambition

Beyond personal connections, Yabusele emphasizes the unity of purpose and goals. « We feel like we understand each other, when we’re on the court, we have the same motivation, the same ambition. We feel like we’re going in the same direction and I think that can really be our strength », he states.

This gives confidence heading into the first game against Belgium this Thursday in Katowice (Poland), and aims high in this competition where France enters with the youngest roster of the tournament.
