On the court or in the office, is David Holston staying in Dijon?

Betclic ELITE - Although some sources reported his departure from JDA, Dijon legend David Holston should extend his relationship with Côte d'Or. The question remains about his role: veteran point guard or club ambassador?

At the club for nearly ten years since joining in 2015, JDA Dijon legend David Holston (5’6″, 39) is at the end of his contract this summer. Closer to the end of his playing career than the beginning, his short-term future is in question. While rumors of departure have emerged, according to our colleagues at Bien Public, there’s nothing to them.

Still adored at the Dijon Sports Palace, the all-time leading scorer in Jeanne’s history has attracted interest from Pro B teams, although he hasn’t played since his calf injury in February, which was complicated by thrombosis. But for the player and those close to him, the question of leaving never really arose: David Holston will still be with Dijon next season, barring any unexpected changes.

« There’s a chance he’ll stay on but it’s far from certain »

The remaining question is what role he’ll take on next season. While the American has reportedly been working on a return for a month, with resumed training, his recurring physical issues could force him to consider a career change sooner than expected. An ambassador position at the club, which qualified for FIBA Europe Cup in 2025-2026, seems the most likely option according to local media.

A few days ago, his coach Laurent Legname, who extended his contract for three more seasons, had already hinted at this possibility, mentioning integration into the organization when discussing the Dijon roster. « There’s a chance he’ll stay on but it’s far from certain. He might want to play another year, but there might also be a position at the club, » he told Bien Public. In any case, if the veteran continues playing, he will be the backup to a « true starting point guard » as desired by Laurent Legname.
