Team France begins its campaign this Thursday, August 28 against Belgium in Katowice (Poland). For the occasion, the French Basketball Federation has released a new episode of its web series « All-Access » (17 minutes), following the behind-the-scenes of the French team’s journey and their final preparation game against Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Greece at the OAKA Arena in Athens.

Strazel, a setback before EuroBasket

A notable moment in this episode: the announcement of Matthew Strazel’s withdrawal. Emotionally affected, the Monaco point guard shares his disappointment on camera but also his determination to stay present with his teammates.

The Bourg-la-Reine native, who was expected to be one of the playmakers of this French team, leaves a gap to fill for the French staff, who already faced tough decisions in forming the squad.

Yabusele, captain of Les Bleus

The documentary also covers the rise of the new captain, double Olympic medalist Guerschon Yabusele. Following the Real Madrid forward’s lead, Les Bleus have completed their preparation and are now focused on the major Polish tournament.

France will start their EuroBasket against Belgium, who are weakened by the absence of several key players but remain competitive. A crucial match to start the competition well.
