MoraBanc’s second-quarter surge falls short
A strong 17-5 run sparked MoraBanc’s reaction in the second quarter. Led by Shannon Evans II’s playmaking and Artem Pustovyi‘s interior dominance, Tabak’s squad managed to flip the scoreboard, establishing a 39-33 lead with three minutes remaining before halftime.
Sito Alonso’s team responded through free-throw accuracy, with Cacok leading the charge, and a buzzer-beating basket from Justin McKoy left the halftime score at 43-38 in favor of the hosts. Best contributed 11 points while DeJulius added 13 in the opening half.
The third quarter began with MoraBanc extending their lead to nine points (49-40) through 3-pointers from Shannon Evans II and Sir’Jabari Rice. UCAM Murcia implemented a 2-3 zone defense to counter the hosts’ offensive flow, and despite Andorra’s physical resistance, the visitors found their rhythm in the final stretch. Crucial 3-pointers from Nakic and Jaylen Hands tied the game at 66, as the home team failed to maintain their defensive intensity.
UCAM Murcia completed their comeback early in the fourth quarter with a decisive 3-9 run, establishing a 69-75 lead with 6:17 remaining. Tabak’s team struggled offensively and accumulated numerous unforced turnovers during the crucial moments.
With 2:27 left on the clock, Alonso’s squad maintained control at 78-86, displaying fresher legs against opponents hampered by nerves and anxiety. Kelan Martin‘s sixth 3-pointer of the night sealed the victory for the visitors.
