Limoges CSP starts its Betclic ELITE season this Saturday evening at Beaublanc against JL Bourg. With a renewed roster and the arrival of Croatian coach Dario Gjergja, the Limoges club hopes to excite its fans from this first prestigious matchup.

A new cycle with Dario Gjergja

After a transition season, Limoges CSP is betting on a new dynamic. Croatian coach Dario Gjergja, from Zadar, is preparing for his first official game as head coach. Eager to experience Beaublanc in championship configuration, he draws inspiration from the club’s history. « I’ve heard so many stories. I’ve watched videos from the past. A first game is always special… What happened in pre-season doesn’t count » he confided to Ici Limousin.

Gavin Ware discovers Beaublanc

A major recruit in the interior sector, Gavin Ware (2.06 m, 31 years) knows the Betclic ELITE well after his stints at Levallois, Gravelines-Dunkerque, and especially Dijon. But wearing the Limoges jersey at Beaublanc has a special resonance. « I’m more nervous than anything. I want to be very effective on offense and help get stops on defense. We want to create an atmosphere here, so opponents know it’s not easy to come win » explained the American center.

A big challenge right away against JL Bourg

For their first outing, Limoges wasn’t spared by the schedule: JL Bourg is one of the championship’s sure values. Dario Gjergja expects a tough game. « They’re a very good team with great balance. They score a lot of easy points in transition and grab many offensive rebounds. We need to be wary of that and contest them » he warns.

The matchup will also have a special flavor against Frédéric Fauthoux, Bourg’s coach, whom Beaublanc’s fans haven’t forgotten and who will be welcomed in an electric atmosphere.
