T.J. Shorts named best offseason signing of 2025 in EuroLeague

As the 2025-2026 EuroLeague season begins this Tuesday, September 30, T.J. Shorts (1.75m, 27 years old) is already in the spotlight.
A highly anticipated arrival in Athens
After two historic seasons with Paris Basketball, T.J. Shorts chose to take the next step by joining Panathinaikos Athens, a flagship club in EuroLeague. This transfer is unanimously praised by competition executives. In the BasketNews survey, the majority of general managers ranked Shorts as the best offseason signing of 2025.
The former Paris Basketball point guard, who led the club to the EuroCup title in 2024 and then to their first EuroLeague playoffs appearance, arrives in Greece as an established star.
Paris Basketball loses its leader, Panathinaikos makes a major move
For Paris Basketball, Shorts’ departure marks the end of an era. The capital’s club had made their point guard the embodiment of their ambitious project in Betclic ELITE and in Europe.
For its part, Panathinaikos makes a major move by pairing Shorts with Kendrick Nunn, voted 2025 EuroLeague MVP and acclaimed as the number one player to build a team around. The combination of these two explosive guards has European basketball salivating.
Panathinaikos vs Bayern Munich this Tuesday evening
Still without Cedi Osman and Mathias Lessort, Panathinaikos Athens starts its European season by hosting Bayern Munich this Tuesday, September 30. This will be an opportunity for Ergin Ataman, Pana’s Turkish coach, to face the German European champions Andreas Obst, Justus Hollatz, Oscar Da Silva and Leon Kratzer, against whom he lost in the EuroBasket 2025 final 16 days ago. Leon Kratzer has already greeted T.J. Shorts, his teammate in Paris these past two seasons, before the game. He will undoubtedly give some advice to his new staff, including Gordon Herbert and T.J. Parker, to try to limit his impact.
All love between these two guys ♥️💚#FCBB #WeBallTogether | @Paobcgr @EuroLeague @ParisBasketball | @LeonKratzer @TjShorts5 pic.twitter.com/O3JDdHX8Od
