After being rested during the Blues’ last preparation match against Great Britain, Sylvain Francisco (1.85 m, 27 years) is back on the court. The French point guard rejoined his teammates in Barcelona this Tuesday for a pivotal week in the EuroBasket 2025 preparation, including a major test in Badalona against Spain.

Francisco reassured about his shoulder

After a few days off, filled with massages, a trip to Munich and Paris, and lots of cartoons, Sylvain Francisco has rejoined the French squad. Suffering from a shoulder injury, he didn’t participate in the match against Great Britain but is now reassuring: « Getting better and better. More fear than harm. I was already starting to feel better the morning of the Great Britain game. I’ll be on the court for today’s training session, » he states on the French team’s website.

A decisive week

The Blues will play two games in three days, starting with a first clash against Spain this Thursday in Catalonia followed by a return match on Saturday in Paris. A demanding schedule that leaves no room for error: « It’s tricky. Everything will move very quickly and that’s when you need to stay focused and fit. We won’t have time to get back into rhythm slowly. But these three days have done us good because we’ve had substantial training blocks. »

A classic matchup that remains special

For Francisco, France – Spain maintains its special flavor, despite roster changes: « It remains a clash since the Tony Parker versus Pau Gasol years. With Rudy Fernandez, Sergio Llull, Boris Diaw… They still have EuroLeague players even if the names have changed. […] Perhaps with less talent, but they know perfectly how to play together and remain a very good team. »

The Blues hope to make a strong statement in Badalona to build confidence, two weeks before EuroBasket, following two mixed performances against Montenegro (+6) and Great Britain (+7).
