Sasha Vezenkov has left his mark on the 2025-2026 EuroLeague season, leading Olympiacos to first place in the regular season standings through exceptional impact and consistency. His outstanding performances were logically rewarded with a new MVP title this Sunday.

At 30 years old, Sasha Vezenkov delivered a high-level campaign. The competition’s leading scorer with 19.4 points per game, he also dominated in efficiency rating (23.1), while adding 6.6 rebounds per contest. His consistent production was highlighted by scoring double figures in 33 of 34 games, including 19 games with 20 or more points.

January surge seals MVP race

While he remained consistent throughout the season, January clearly shifted the MVP race in his favor. During this period, Sasha Vezenkov averaged 23.6 points, 6.7 rebounds and a 29 efficiency rating, guiding his team to a 6-1 record.

With this trophy, Sasha Vezenkov captures his second MVP award after his 2022-2023 triumph. He becomes only the second player in EuroLeague history to achieve this double, joining Anthony Parker. He finished ahead of Sylvain Francisco in second place and Elijah Bryant in third in voting that included coaches, captains, media and fans. Despite being convinced he deserved the trophy, the French guard from Zalgiris failed to become the second Frenchman after Nando De Colo in 2016 to claim the continental competition’s top individual honor.

Named MVP this Sunday, Sasha Vezenkov was also selected alongside Sylvain Francisco to the All-EuroLeague First Team for the fourth time in his career, joining legends Dimitris Diamantidis and Juan Carlos Navarro. Facing Monaco in the first round of playoffs, the third Olympiacos player to be crowned EuroLeague MVP after Milos Teodosic and Vassilis Spanoulis now targets the championship. The series begins Tuesday in Piraeus, where Evan Fournier‘s teammates have won 16 of 19 games this season.
