Tough blow for defending champion Oklahoma City: Thunder loses one of its stars to injury against Miami
Sylvain Sultat

The Oklahoma City Thunder delivered a spectacular performance against the Milwaukee Bucks Wednesday night, winning 122-102 despite a roster significantly weakened by injuries. The team had only eight players under standard contract available at tip-off, a number that dropped to seven after the early exit of Ajay Mitchell, who suffered a hip injury.
This critical situation did not prevent Oklahoma City from dominating the game from start to finish. The Thunder built a 20-point lead in the first quarter and were never threatened afterward. The Bucks didn’t lead for a single second during the entire game, demonstrating the visitors’ total control.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander delivered one of the most efficient performances of his career, scoring 40 points on a remarkable 16 of 19 shooting. The Thunder’s star guard missed only three attempts all night, while dishing out 11 assists, including eight in the first half, and grabbing seven rebounds. This complete and dominant performance perfectly illustrates the player’s exceptional level this season.
Before his injury, Ajay Mitchell was also in great form, finishing with 18 points including 12 scored in the first quarter alone. During the first nine minutes of play, he literally scored more points by himself than the entire Milwaukee team.
Kenrich Williams proved valuable once again off the bench, contributing 18 points and consistent energy on both ends of the floor. Lu Dort added 13 points, hitting three 3-pointers, while Chet Holmgren was quieter statistically with 10 points, seven rebounds and two assists.
The Thunder emphasized interior play in this matchup, attempting 11 more two-point shots than Milwaukee and also winning the rebounding battle. This dominance in the paint is even more impressive considering Oklahoma City is currently playing without two of its centers. The team will return home Friday to face the Indiana Pacers, looking to continue this excellent momentum.
