Thursday evening, during the preparation game against CSKA Moscow, Mouhammadou Jaiteh (2.11 m, 30 years old) suffered a major setback. After injuring his Achilles tendon, the French center had to leave the game prematurely. The next day, he posted a reassuring message on his Instagram account, with a photo from his hospital bed:

« Thank you all for the incredible support and all the messages I’ve received in the past few hours. The surgery went well and now begins the path to recovery. This is a difficult moment, but I remain strong and positive. I will continue to support my teammates in this historic season for Dubai Basketball Club, and I will come back even stronger. »

Season likely over for Jaiteh

In case of a complete Achilles tendon rupture, the recovery time for a high-level player typically ranges from six to twelve months. The most likely scenario is that Mouhammadou Jaiteh won’t play again this season with his new club, Dubai BC, which is playing its first season in EuroLeague.

A body put to the test

This injury comes after an extremely busy 2024-2025 season with AS Monaco, where the 30-year-old center played more than 70 games across all competitions. This summer, he was also heavily relied upon with the French national team, where he found himself as the only natural center available for France from the second game of EuroBasket onwards. This sequence of events may have weakened his body and led to this serious injury.

The road to recovery will be long, but the Pantin native has already warned: he intends to come back stronger.
