Surprise in Dijon: Ilias Kamardine will indeed leave JDA for NCAA!

Roman Domon (2.07m, 19 years old), promising young tall wing from BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque, is preparing to leave France for the United States. According to our information, the U20 European champion is expected to commit to Murray State University in the NCAA. This decision illustrates the new trend among young French basketball talents, increasingly attracted by the sporting and economic opportunities offered by American college basketball.
At only 19 years old, Roman Domon (2.07m, born October 6, 2005) is already a well-known name in French basketball circles. Having come through BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque’s youth academy, he is now a full member of the Betclic ELITE squad, averaging 5.5 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1 assist in 26 games.
While he was expected to take on more responsibilities in the North, it appears the young forward has preferred to accept the increasingly convincing offers from NCAA. He is close to joining Murray State, a Kentucky university with a recognized program, member of the Missouri Valley Conference.
The Racers, who have reached the NCAA tournament 18 times, regularly serve as a springboard to professional leagues. Roman Domon would be offered an important role from his first year, while benefiting from attractive exposure and development framework.
Roman Domon is not an isolated case. His BCM teammate, Evan Boisdur, is also departing for the NCAA, along with about a dozen young players from LNB clubs’ training centers. The growing gap between financial and sporting prospects in the United States compared to certain situations in France is pushing many talents across the Atlantic.
This phenomenon could reshuffle the cards of youth recruitment in France, forcing professional clubs to review their strategy for retaining their prospects. While the NCAA is attractive today, it could become an almost unavoidable step for the best French prospects tomorrow.
