Rokas Jokubaitis (1.93m, 24 years old), long considered one of Europe’s greatest talents at his position, has signed with Bayern Munich until 2028. Having played for Zalgiris Kaunas, FC Barcelona, and most recently Maccabi Tel-Aviv, the 24-year-old Lithuanian point guard arrives in Germany to replace Shabazz Napier and Carsen Edwards. Bayern is taking a gamble on this scorer, known for dominating the ball.

A career marked by early beginnings

From Klaipeda, Rokas Jokubaitis started at Zalgiris Kaunas at just 17 in the Lithuanian championship (LKL) and stepped onto EuroLeague courts at 18. Selected 34th in the 2021 NBA Draft by Oklahoma City (his rights being transferred to the New York Knicks), he then joined FC Barcelona. In three seasons in Spain, he won a championship title and a Copa del Rey but seemed to plateau.

Rising in Tel-Aviv

Last season, Jokubaitis often controlled Maccabi Tel-Aviv’s game and produced impressive statistics. He achieved his best offensive production in EuroLeague, with 60% shooting from two-point range, 37% from three, and 4.6 assists per game. A leadership role that convinced Bayern Munich to offer him a long-term contract.

High expectations in Munich

The Lithuanian player, currently preparing for EuroBasket 2025, knows he’ll be under scrutiny: « I want to take on a lot of responsibility, » he stated in the club’s press release. It remains to be seen if he can integrate into a roster already rich in perimeter scorers and help the team coached by Gordon Herbert reach new heights.
