Randle, Edwards and Gobert lead Wolves to dominant victory over Mavericks

Edwards’ return and the Wolves’ surge

The Minnesota Timberwolves handled business in Dallas — and then some.

They rolled past the Dallas Mavericks 124–94 in a game that never really tilted back. Julius Randle, back in his hometown, set the tone with 24 points, while Anthony Edwards made his return from injury with 17 off the bench.

Edwards’ night had a strange start — originally slated to start, he arrived late and ceded his spot to Mike Conley. He checked in just over two minutes into the game, his first action after a six-game absence. From here on out, it’s simple math: he’ll need to play every remaining game to hit the 65-game threshold for All-NBA eligibility.

Minnesota’s edge came from everywhere.

Ayo Dosunmu posted his first triple-double since arriving from Chicago — 16 points, 15 rebounds, 12 assists — filling gaps all over the floor. Rudy Gobert added a steady 14 and 10, and Donte DiVincenzo spaced the floor with five threes on nine attempts.

It looked like a team in control — of the game, and of itself.

Dallas continues home slide

The Timberwolves now have a little breathing room.

At 46–29, they’ve moved into sole possession of fifth in the West, a half-game up on Houston, and this one was never really in doubt. Minnesota blew it open early with a 19–2 run in the first quarter — turning a close start into a 23–10 lead — and never gave Dallas a path back. The gap stretched to 33 at one point in the fourth.

On the other side, it’s getting rough.

The Dallas Mavericks dropped their 13th straight at the American Airlines Center — the longest home skid in the building’s 25-year history. Daniel Gafford led the way with 21 points, but Cooper Flagg never found a rhythm: 12 points on 5-of-19 shooting after opening 1-for-10.

Next up, Minnesota heads to face the Detroit Pistons, while Dallas looks to stop the slide on the road against the Milwaukee Bucks.
