Player Profile

When Torrey Craig scored 41 points wearing the Wellington Saints jersey, he came just one point short of matching the New Zealand club's all-time record. This performance perfectly illustrates the unique journey of this American forward, who turned every step of his career into a springboard toward excellence.

After starring at Great Falls High School in South Carolina, where he earned the State Player of the Year award, Craig made history at USC Upstate by becoming the first player in the university's history to surpass 2,000 career points. This achievement opened the door to a professional adventure that first took him to the other side of the world, in Australia and New Zealand.

Far from the NBA spotlight, Craig built his reputation on the courts of Cairns, Brisbane, and Wellington. His defensive versatility and scoring ability earned him prestigious honors: an MVP title in the NZNBL, a championship with Wellington, and the Australian NBL Defensive Player of the Year award with Brisbane. These standout performances caught the attention of NBA scouts.

In 2017, Denver gave him his shot. Craig seized the opportunity and became the first USC Upstate graduate to play in the NBA playoffs. His journey has since taken him to several prestigious franchises, from Milwaukee to Boston, by way of Phoenix, Indiana, and Chicago. Each stop has confirmed his added value: a tenacious defender capable of bringing the intensity needed in crucial moments.
