Player Profile
Nicknamed "Scary Terry", Terry Rozier turned the hardships of his difficult childhood in Youngstown into fuel for a remarkable NBA career. Raised mainly by his mother and grandmother during his father's multiple incarcerations, the point guard drew from that adversity a determination that still defines him today.
His path to the top of professional basketball was anything but straightforward. After starring at Shaker Heights High School in Ohio, Rozier made the strategic choice to attend Hargrave Military Academy to strengthen his academic record. That decision paid off: he excelled there and earned MVP honors at the Kentucky Derby Festival Basketball Classic, opening the doors to the University of Louisville.
With the Cardinals, Rozier quickly lived up to his potential. Named to the ACC All-Rookie team in his first year, he continued to improve and earned a spot on the All-ACC Second Team during his sophomore season. Those performances convinced the Boston Celtics to select him with the 16th pick in the 2015 NBA Draft.
Since entering the league, Rozier has worn the jerseys of the Celtics, the Charlotte Hornets, and now the Miami Heat. Beyond his on-court abilities, he is actively involved in community work, organizing basketball camps for young people among other initiatives. This social commitment reflects his desire to give back to the community what the sport brought him on his own journey to the top.
