When Malik Beasley brandished a weapon in 2020, few could have imagined that this impulsive act would be merely the first in a series of controversies that would define his NBA career. The Atlanta guard, a standout from Saint Francis School in Georgia, had everything it took to succeed: raw talent that had propelled him straight from his freshman year at Florida State into the 2016 NBA Draft, making him the first player in Seminoles history to leave the university after just one season.

Selected 19th overall by Denver despite a stress fracture in his right leg, Beasley spent years searching for his place in the league.
