Player Profile
When Jordan Clarkson steps onto an NBA court, two flags beat in his heart: that of the United States, where he grew up, and that of the Philippines, a heritage passed down from his mother, who is originally from Pampanga. This dual identity shapes the very essence of a player who has turned an unconventional journey into a true success story.
The son of two U.S. Air Force military personnel, Clarkson discovered basketball in San Antonio after his parents' divorce, when he was six years old. On the courts of Texas, the young guard honed an offensive style that earned him the title of best high school player in San Antonio. His college career, split between Tulsa and Missouri, confirmed his potential, with honors in both conferences.
Selected 46th overall by Washington and immediately traded to the Lakers in 2014, Clarkson made history by forming with Jeremy Lin the first duo of Asian-American starting guards in NBA history. But it is his offensive versatility and his impact coming off the bench that truly define his career, particularly during his stints in Cleveland and Utah.
Beyond the statistics, Clarkson embodies a unique cultural bridge between America and the Philippines, where his popularity transcends the sport itself. His dual citizenship allows him to represent the Philippine national team, adding an international dimension to his basketball legacy.
Today, this dynamic scorer continues to thrive in a league where his flashy style and distinctive personality make him far more than just a sixth man: he is an ambassador for modern basketball with multicultural roots.
