At West Chicago High School, Konchar put up remarkable numbers as a senior, averaging 28.9 points and 14.1 rebounds per game, becoming the all-time leading scorer in his school's history. Despite those dazzling stats and a regional MVP title, only one Division I program extended him an offer: Purdue Fort Wayne. Far from being discouraged, the Chicago forward seized that single opportunity with remarkable determination.
During his college career, Konchar witnessed successive changes to his program, navigating administrative restructurings without ever losing focus.
