Player Profile
When Jamaree Bouyea scored 36 points in the NCAA Tournament with the University of San Francisco, few would have imagined he had nearly never set foot on a college court. The point guard from Seaside, California, had received only one Division I scholarship offer — USF's — which he accepted without hesitation.
At Palma School in Salinas, Bouyea had nonetheless made a name for himself by leading his team to a state championship and becoming the first player in 18 years to win the county's Player of the Year award two years in a row, according to The Monterey Herald. Yet recruiters remained skeptical.
At San Francisco, he turned that vote of confidence into historic performances. Over five seasons, he played more games (160) and accumulated more wins (98) than any other player in program history. His offensive peak came with 33 points against Loyola Marymount, and above all that 36-point performance in March Madness that will live long in the memory.
His most resounding achievement came in 2020, when USF pulled off a stunning upset over No. 4 seed Virginia, with Bouyea leading the charge with 19 points and 6 assists. That game perfectly captured his style: a blend of scoring and playmaking for his teammates.
Undrafted in the 2022 NBA Draft, he refused to give up. Miami Heat, Washington Wizards, Portland Trail Blazers, San Antonio Spurs — Bouyea moved between NBA rosters and G League affiliates, building his experience. In 2025, his perseverance finally paid off with a two-way contract with the Milwaukee Bucks, the ultimate validation of a journey built on resilience.
