With a wingspan of 7 feet 3 inches and formidable defensive instincts, Charles Bediako embodies the new generation of Canadian centers shaking up North American basketball. Born in Brampton to a family of Ghanaian descent, this 7-foot giant grew up in an environment where athletic excellence was the norm: his brother Jaden plays at Seton Hall, and his sister Jada at Georgia Tech.

His high school journey reflects a constant pursuit of improvement. After starting at Ridley College alongside his brother, Bediako continued his development at Andrews Osborne Academy before joining the prestigious IMG Academy in Florida. His standout performances, highlighted by a double-double average, earned him a selection to the Jordan Brand Classic and the attention of top American universities.

Despite interest from Duke, Michigan, Texas, and Ohio State, he chose Alabama, where he quickly established himself as a defensive cornerstone. Starting all 37 games in his second college season, Bediako built a reputation as a fearsome shot-blocker and relentless rebounder for the Crimson Tide.

Going undrafted in the 2023 NBA Draft, he refused to give up. After impressing during pre-draft workouts, he landed a two-way contract with San Antonio, splitting time between the Spurs and their affiliate team in Austin. His journey also took him to Orlando, Denver, and most recently the Grand Rapids Gold.

On the international stage, Bediako helped Canada win a bronze medal at the 2021 FIBA U19 World Championship. At 22 years old, this versatile defender continues to refine his game, determined to establish himself permanently among the world's elite.
