In his right shoe, Brandon Boston Jr. always slips a one-dollar bill before every game. This ritual, as personal as it is quirky, has accompanied the American guard since the start of his professional career, a symbol of a journey built on perseverance and attention to detail.
A prodigy at Sierra Canyon High School alongside Bronny James and Zaire Wade, Boston Jr. had all the makings of a future star: selection to the 2020 McDonald's All-American Game, five-star recruit status, and a promising season at the University of Kentucky. But the path to the NBA proved more winding than anticipated. Selected 51st overall in the 2021 draft by Memphis before being immediately traded to the Los Angeles Clippers, he had to prove himself in the G League with the Agua Caliente Clippers and Ontario Clippers.
The year 2021 marked a painful turning point in his life: he witnessed the tragic car accident that claimed the life of his Kentucky teammate, Terrence Clarke. This ordeal deeply affected the young player, strengthening his determination to honor his friend's memory on the court.
After three seasons in Los Angeles, Boston Jr. found a new opportunity in New Orleans. Picked up by the Pelicans in October 2024, he first signed a two-way contract before earning a standard contract in February 2025. At 23, the guard from Norcross continues to believe in his potential, his lucky dollar tucked in his shoe, ready to seize his chance in the Bayou.
