The Minnesota Timberwolves continued their impressive surge with a 115-107 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Thursday night, powered by Anthony Edwards‘ explosive performance that included one of the season’s most memorable dunks.

Edwards finished with 22 points on an efficient 8-of-12 shooting, including 5-of-8 from 3-points range. The highlight came in the third quarter when Edwards used a crossover dribble to get free in the lane, elevated well above the rim and slammed it home with a thunderous two-handed dunk over RJ Barrett. Edwards flexed and yelled at Barrett afterward, with Barrett giving Edwards a little bump as they ran back up the court.

Balanced attack fuels Minnesota’s rise

Coming off a 41-point performance in Minnesota’s 117-110 win over Memphis on Tuesday night, Edwards showcased his versatility with another stellar outing. The victory was far from a one-man show, as the Timberwolves demonstrated the improved depth that has defined their recent success.

Rudy Gobert contributed 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Julius Randle added 17 points and Donte DiVincenzo chipped in 16 points. Six players finished in double digits, highlighting the balanced scoring attack that has become a hallmark of this Minnesota squad.

The Timberwolves controlled the game’s momentum with an 11-0 run in the third quarter, turning a tight 55-54 halftime lead into a commanding 86-70 advantage. With Houston falling to Golden State in overtime, the Timberwolves (40-23) moved one game ahead of the Rockets for third place in the Western Conference.

For Toronto, Barrett led the way with 25 points, while Immanuel Quickley added 18 points in the losing effort. Brandon Ingram, listed as questionable with a sprained left thumb, managed 14 points on 5-of-16 shooting. The Raptors have now lost four of their last five games but remain in fifth place in the Eastern Conference.

The victory represents more than just another win for Minnesota. With approximately two months remaining in the regular season, the Timberwolves have positioned themselves as legitimate contenders, sitting five games behind the Western Conference-leading Thunder and Spurs but well clear of the play-in tournament positions that seemed likely just months ago.
