An experienced player to lead the new Chorale
Having a solid season despite Fos’s struggles (10.5 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 25 games), despite a wrist injury, Mathieu Wojciechowski remains a reliable asset in the championship. At 32, the Franco-Polish forward is ready to take on a new challenge with Roanne, now in ELITE 2 after their relegation in 2024.
Known for his defensive intensity, team-first mentality and versatility at positions 3, 4 and even 5, the Calais native will bring cohesion to Thomas Andrieux’s team. « Mathieu Wojciechowski is a smart and committed player that I strongly wanted in our roster, » stated Sports Director Zoran Cvjetkovic. « He stands out through his mindset, his demanding nature and his professionalism. »
A rich career between France and Poland
Coming through Gravelines-Dunkerque’s youth academy, Wojciechowski played in Pro B at age 17 with Lille before breaking out at Le Portel (who tried to bring him back). He discovered Pro A in 2015 with Limoges CSP, then moved to Bourg-en-Bresse. After a stint in Poland, his country of origin, where he shined and was named MVP of the month in January 2019, he returned to France in 2020.
He then had several experiences between Betclic Elite and ELITE 2, including a return to Limoges in 2022, followed by a year and a half at Fos-Provence. His first season ended with tears of joy, being the hero of the team’s survival, though unable to repeat the feat in spring 2025…
A committed recruit for the Roanne project
Chorale continues its ambitious recruitment with Wojciechowski’s arrival, the fourth signing of the summer. The former Polish international doesn’t hide his enthusiasm: « I’m very happy and excited to join Chorale de Roanne. It’s a historic club with a strong identity, I can’t wait to wear this jersey and give everything to achieve great objectives. »
With his experience and ability to integrate into a team, Wojciechowski seems perfect to help Roanne aim for the top of the standings in 2025-2026. See you at Halle Vacheresse in August.
