After a disappointing 2024-2025 season, the Philadelphia 76ers are banking on nostalgia to regain positive momentum. The franchise unveiled on Tuesday its new Allen Iverson era throwback jerseys, which will make their official debut in a game on November 8.

A tribute to the 25th anniversary of the 2001 NBA Finals
These new retro jerseys are part of the celebrations for the 25th anniversary of the 76ers’ last NBA Finals appearance. Iverson led the 2000-2001 team to its first division title in 11 years and to the Finals for the first time in 18 years. « The Answer » won the MVP trophy after leading the league in scoring with 31.1 points per game.
It was during these Finals, in Game 1 against the Los Angeles Lakers, that Iverson delivered one of the most iconic moments in franchise history. He performed a legendary crossover that sent Tyronn Lue to the floor, before stepping over him. Iverson scored 48 points in Philadelphia’s 107-101 overtime victory in this memorable game.
In addition to the jerseys, the 76ers will use a customized Iverson-era court design for 14 games during the 2025-2026 season. This throwback design, which includes the retro logo at center court and on both baselines, will debut during the November 8 game against the Toronto Raptors.
A nostalgia bet to revive the franchise
The 76ers initially introduced this Iverson-era look before the 1997-1998 season, adding the black uniforms to their rotation. They kept this design for 12 years before adopting their current white and blue jerseys with red alternates.
Expectations for the 2025-2026 76ers remain hard to gauge. The team has high-level talent with Joel Embiid, Paul George, and Tyrese Maxey when everyone is healthy, but this trio only played 15 games together last season. After a disappointing campaign of 24 wins and 58 losses, the franchise hopes that the return to form of Embiid and George, along with healthy seasons from young stars like Maxey, will allow the team to return to playoff contention next spring.
