LaMelo Ball wrote his name in Charlotte Hornets history with an exceptional performance Sunday night against the Washington Wizards. The point guard made 10 three-pointers on 15 attempts, tying the franchise record held by Kemba Walker, Terry Rozier, Kelly Oubre Jr., and Devonte’ Graham.
This remarkable performance led the Hornets to a decisive 129-112 victory and completed a perfect sweep of four wins in four matchups this season against the Wizards. LaMelo Ball finished the game with 37 points, just one point shy of his season-high set last October, also against Washington.
The turning point of the game came in the third quarter, where Ball was simply phenomenal. The young point guard hit six three-pointers on seven attempts in that period alone, contributing to a collective NBA record. The Hornets made 12 three-pointers in that quarter, tying the NBA record for most three-pointers made in a single quarter.

This offensive explosion definitively sealed the outcome. Trailing 61-56 at halftime, the Hornets pulled away with this barrage of three-pointers. Brandon Miller opened the floodgates with two three-pointers, followed by Ball, then Kon Knueppel who hit two consecutive shots to push the lead to 15 points for the first time in the game.
Overall, Charlotte finished with an excellent 25 of 46 from three-point range, an exceptional shooting performance that illustrates this team’s offensive quality. Kon Knueppel added 28 points with five three-pointers, bringing his season total to 198 makes, an NBA record for a rookie. He’s now just nine away from the all-time record held by Keegan Murray in 2022-2023.
This victory keeps the Hornets (27-31) in the playoff race at 10th place in the Eastern Conference, just half a game behind Atlanta and with a game-and-a-half lead over Milwaukee. For Washington (16-40), it’s a missed opportunity to record their first three-game winning streak since February 2025.
