The Washington Wizards announced Wednesday that their forward Kyshawn George is suffering from a partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his left elbow. The injury occurred Monday during the 123-118 loss to the Houston Rockets, forcing the former Chalon player to leave the game in the third quarter without returning.
The franchise specified that George will be re-evaluated in three weeks, which represents a minimum absence period for one of the few positive points of this difficult season in Washington. The 24th pick of the 2024 first round will miss several important games, including the potential debut of Trae Young with his new team Thursday night against Utah.

An absence that deprives Washington of its most consistent player
Kyshawn George had established himself as an undisputed starter this season, starting all 48 games he participated in. His statistics reflect his remarkable progression in his second NBA year: 14.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game, with an excellent 38.1% shooting from 3-point range.
This injury adds to a long list of unavailable players for the Wizards, notably including Alexandre Sarr, Anthony Davis and Tristan Vukcevic. With a team more focused on the draft than on wins despite the recent arrival of Trae Young from Atlanta, Washington is expected to adopt a cautious approach regarding George’s return.
The absence of the Canadian forward represents a tough blow for a franchise that was counting on his consistency and offensive efficiency to maintain an acceptable level of play. His return, expected at the earliest in three weeks, will depend on the progress of his left elbow injury and upcoming medical examinations.
