Kyllian Michée to leave Real Madrid to start his professional career

A highly scouted prospect at a young age, Kyllian Michée (1.90m, 18 years old) decided to leave his hometown of Marseille to join Real Madrid’s youth academy in 2020, at age 13. In Spain, the point guard had an « incredible experience » in his own words, as reported by La Provence.

Starting his career in second division

After winning numerous trophies with the Spanish capital club, the former French U16 international will begin his professional career. « I would like to play in the second division, whether in Spain or France, to grow as a professional player, » explains Charles Michée’s son, who does not have locally trained player (JFL) status in France. « We’re going to accelerate things, » he adds to La Provence.

The 2024 ANGT Berlin winner, Kyllian Michée was recruited by the Merengue while playing for Stade Marseillais Université Club (SMUC). After these five years, the Marseille native keeps good memories of his Madrid years: « I grew as a basketball player and as a man. I improved in maturity, game reading, tempo management, and communication. The facilities are incredible. » However, not everything was rosy for the Frenchman, « my last two years were more complicated, the coach didn’t necessarily play me. It was frustrating, but I dealt with it and even in this situation, I learned, » adds the player who only played a total of 52 seconds during the 2025 ANGT finals in Abu Dhabi. Now, he hopes to find the right opportunity to take the next step.
