Juhann Begarin (6’5″, 23 years old) has broken his silence. On the evening of the brawl that marked the end of the game between AS Monaco and JDA Dijon, the Monegasque wing spoke out on his social media to apologize after punching Quentin Losser.

« I sincerely want to apologize to Quentin Losser, his family and @jdadijonbasket for my actions during the game.

These are images and behavior that should not be seen anywhere, least of all on a basketball court. I am sorry 🙏 »

Bad news amid positive momentum

These apologies come at a paradoxical moment for Juhann Begarin. The French international had been benefiting in recent weeks from Monaco’s particular situation, with a thin roster due to the club’s financial difficulties and several departures.

On an upward trajectory, he had just put in a solid performance against Dijon with 14 points. But this incident could abruptly derail his momentum.

A suspension that could come at a high cost

Given the footage and the severity of the act, the former Paris and Nanterre player faces a heavy suspension. A decision that would come at the worst possible time for Monaco, already short on rotation and particularly on locally trained players (JFL).

While the Roca Team had managed the game against Dijon well on the court, they could now pay a steep price for the disciplinary fallout from this tense end to the match.
