With 17 assists, he permanently writes his name in NBL history
By compiling 20 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals and especially 17 assists for a 36 efficiency rating in 35 minutes, the Californian, a true offensive engine, perfectly orchestrated the Breakers’ game and set the new assist record for the modern era of the Australian championship. He surpasses the previous record of 15 assists jointly held by Melbourne’s Nate Tomlinson in 2013 and former Fos player Tahjere McCall with Cairns in 2023.
Only Derek Rucker, with 24 assists in 1994, stands ahead but this performance was achieved under the old NBL format with 48-minute games. Note that PJC had already dished out 12 assists to his teammates 3 weeks ago in the season opener during the 95-104 loss against Brisbane.

With this first win, NZL Breakers open their victory count in NBL this season (1 win, 4 losses) and currently rank 9th out of 10 in the standings… ahead of Illawarra. Parker Jackson-Cartwright leads the league in assists (8.6 per game).
Notable stints in France
The pocket point guard (5’11 ») is well-known to French fans. Between 2020 and 2023, he played for two French clubs. First seen in Saint-Quentin’s jersey (2020-2021), he was brilliant in Pro B, averaging 15 points, 3 rebounds, 2.5 steals, and 7 assists. Leading the league in assists and steals, he was crowned Pro B MVP.
Returning to France in 2022-2023 this time with ASVEL, this former American high school star discovered top-level European competition. Less comfortable in a deeper roster and struggling physically, he averaged 9 points, 2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in Betclic Elite, and 5 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists in EuroLeague before leaving mid-season to join Beşiktaş Istanbul.

After attending the University of Arizona out of high school, Parker Jackson-Cartwright has had a rich international career. Following a stint in the G-League, he played successively in the United Kingdom, France, Turkey, Germany, and Lithuania. For the past two seasons, he has settled in the NBL with the New Zealand Breakers, the only New Zealand team competing in the Australian championship, based in Auckland.
