According to the NBA’s official statement, « the investigation established that the Bucks had scheduled a three-on-three practice session last week for Giannis Antetokounmpo as part of his return-to-play program, but that he refused to participate. » This revelation sheds new light on the dispute between the two-time MVP and his franchise.
The league also noted that « there is a disagreement as to whether the team asked Giannis to participate in a team practice earlier in the week, and the league continues to monitor the situation. » Milwaukee claims to have proposed this team session, something Antetokounmpo’s camp does not confirm.

Despite these new developments, Giannis Antetokounmpo is firmly standing his ground. On Friday, ahead of the game against the Celtics, he stated: « I am available to play, but I’m not in the game. I am available today. Right now, I am available! »
The « Greek Freak » has not played since March 15 due to a hyperextension of his left knee accompanied by a bone bruise. He expressed his frustration over the unprecedented situation: « I’ve never seen a case where a player of my caliber says — and I’m saying it publicly — that I want to play, damn it! You know what I mean? I think this has never happened before. »
This situation comes at a particularly difficult time for Milwaukee, already eliminated from playoff contention after nine consecutive postseason appearances. The end of the season is becoming frankly embarrassing for a franchise whose future with its superstar is now in question. The NBA‘s investigation highlights a toxic standoff between medical caution, tanking suspicions, and the franchise player’s desire to finish the season on the court.
