Germany finishes strong and dominates Montenegro in EuroBasket 2025 opener
After a tight first half where Montenegro capitalized on their opportunities to stay in the game, Germany raised their level after the break. Driven by Andreas Obst and Dennis Schroder, who combined for 19 points in the third quarter alone, the 2023 world champions went on a 33-12 run that definitively sealed the outcome of the game.
Obst, Schroder and Wagner lead the way
Bayern Munich’s shooter Andreas Obst (18 points on 5/6 three-pointers) was lethal after halftime, well supported by Dennis Schroder (21 points). Franz Wagner finished as the game’s top scorer with 22 points and 8 rebounds. Germany continued to dominate until they led by 30 points in the final quarter.

Setback with Isaac Bonga’s injury
The only downside for the Mannschaft was Isaac Bonga’s injury exit (left knee) with less than six minutes remaining. The 25-year-old had scored 7 points in 18 minutes.
Vucevic holds his own, Allman makes his mark
For Montenegro, Nikola Vucevic showed his consistency with a double-double (23 points, 10 rebounds), while Kyle Allman Jr., naturalized this summer, scored 18 points in his first official appearance for his new national team. However, Montenegro eventually succumbed to Germany’s depth.
Germany (1-0) perfectly starts their campaign in Group B played in Tampere, where Lithuania had earlier defeated Great Britain (94-70), setting a new EuroBasket rebounding record (57).
