Dwayne Bacon, VTB League season MVP approaching Dubai
According to Eurohoops, the wing player should return to EuroLeague next season. After finishing his season in Russia this Monday, June 9, the American will return to a competition he experienced with Monaco in 2021-2022. In 2024-2025, Dwayne Bacon excelled with Zenit Saint Petersburg, where he was named regular season MVP. Despite the recent loss in the VTB League Finals, Bacon averaged 16.3 points (42.3% shooting, including 32% from three-point range), 3.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists.
Before playing at Monaco, Dwayne Bacon (6’6″, 29) had nearly 200 NBA games over four seasons, split between the Charlotte Hornets and Orlando Magic. After his Monaco stint, Bacon played for Panathinaikos Athens in 2022-2023. Before arriving in Russia, he spent the 2023-2024 season between China and Puerto Rico.
Dubai determined to invest heavily
Since joining EuroLeague, Dubai has been working to build a roster of players experienced in European competition. Recent semifinalist in the Adriatic League, the Emirati club impressed in its first European season, earning a spot in a EuroLeague that is increasingly turning toward the Middle East and its petrodollars.
Thus, to prepare optimally, the club has unlocked massive resources similar to Hapoel Tel-Aviv, also a rookie in the competition. There have been rumors around well-known European basketball names like Mam Jaiteh and Avramovic, and even T.J Shorts earlier this season. Now it’s time for the court to do the talking and for Dubai to surprise everyone like Paris did this season.
