The Cleveland Cavaliers dominated the Magic 114-98, carried by an exceptional performance from Donovan Mitchell who scored 45 points. This victory marks the fourth consecutive for Cleveland, which continues its rise in the Eastern Conference standings.
Mitchell was simply unstoppable, shooting 15/25 from the field including 5/8 from 3-point range in 35 minutes of play. The All-Star guard particularly shined in the first half with 26 points, allowing the Cavaliers to overcome an initial ten-point deficit to lead 61-56 at halftime.
An offensive duel won against Paolo Banchero
Despite an excellent performance from Paolo Banchero, who had 37 points and 10 rebounds for Orlando, the Cavaliers were able to make the difference thanks to their roster depth. Evan Mobley contributed 20 points and 9 rebounds, confirming his recent rise in power, while Jaylon Tyson, recently selected for the Rising Stars Game 2026, contributed with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists.
The turning point of the game occurred in the second quarter, when Cleveland turned the tide with a 39-24 run after being down 38-27. Mitchell took matters into his own hands right after halftime, scoring an and-one and a 3-pointer to set the tone for his team.
This performance represents Mitchell’s 25th game with more than 30 points this season, the fourth best total in the league, and his fifth game with more than 40 points. The Cavaliers now have a record of 28-20, their best differential of the season.
Cleveland will host the Los Angeles Lakers next Wednesday, buoyed by this series of 11 wins in the last 15 games that keeps them in fifth place in the Eastern Conference, with a 3-game lead over the Sixers.
