Cade Cunningham leads Detroit to victory over Warriors

The Detroit Pistons pulled off an upset with a 131-124 win over the Golden State Warriors in San Francisco, powered by an exceptional performance from Cade Cunningham. The Pistons’ point guard compiled 29 points and 11 assists, perfectly orchestrating his team’s offense in this statement victory.
A record-breaking first half for Detroit
The Pistons took control from the opening tip, scoring 77 points in the first half against the Warriors – the most points Golden State has allowed in a half this season. Detroit shot at a remarkable 76% (19 for 25) in the first quarter, quickly taking control of the game.
Jalen Duren provided excellent support for Cunningham with 21 points and 13 rebounds, while Duncan Robinson added 15 points. This collective performance allowed the Pistons to complete a difficult back-to-back after their 114-96 loss Thursday in Phoenix.
Stephen Curry hampered by knee injury
For the Warriors, Stephen Curry scored 23 points for his fourth consecutive 20-point game, but had to leave the contest due to right knee pain. The two-time MVP was particularly bothered by Ausar Thompson’s defense, shooting just 7 for 16 in three quarters.
Draymond Green contributed 15 points, seven assists and seven rebounds, picking up his 10th technical foul of the season. The former DPOY crossed the 8,000-point career milestone and passed Joe Fulks for 16th place on the franchise’s all-time scoring list.
Despite a typical third-quarter comeback attempt, cutting a 20-point deficit to single digits, the Warriors were undone by their 18 turnovers, which Detroit converted into 31 points. Gui Santos matched his season high with 16 points, but it wasn’t enough to avoid the home loss.
This victory allows the Pistons to win seven of their last nine games, confirming their progress this season.
