A verdict expected on January 10

BBD president Laurent Serres confirmed on social media that a decision would be known on January 10 regarding Jacob Grandison’s situation. « On the 10th, we will know the decision taken about Grandison: whether there’s a sanction or not, » he wrote on Facebook, reports Ici Périgord.

At this stage, no indication allows to know if the outcome will be favorable or not. Internally, the Périgord club remains in waiting, aware of the sporting stakes this case represents.

Three months without playing, but still present in Boulazac

Suspended just before the second championship game against Cholet on October 11, Jacob Grandison hasn’t played an official match since September 27, the date of the opening victory against Saint-Quentin.

However, the American-Finnish forward hasn’t left Dordogne. Staying in Boulazac, he trained individually to maintain his physical condition, anticipating a potential administrative green light.

An immediate impact at the start of the season

Before this suspension, Grandison had quickly found his place in the Périgord roster. Having played for the Duke Blue Devils in NCAA, where he notably played alongside Derrick Lively II or Kyle Filipowski, the forward had made an impression from his first outings.
In the French Supercup, he scored 11 points against Monaco, before shining against Paris Basketball with 25 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. In the championship, he confirmed in the first game against Saint-Quentin (11 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists).

A case revived in December

Long discreet, the case was revived on December 19 during the derby against Limoges. LNB president Philippe Ausseur had then mentioned a « fake doping », pointing to a possible error by the medical staff of the Finnish national team, Euro semi-finalist. Comments reported notably by France Bleu Périgord, which revived hope for a positive outcome.

A potential reinforcement in a favorable dynamic

Despite Grandison’s absence, Boulazac has managed so far with a record of 5 wins and 8 losses, in 12th place in the standings. The Sharks rely on Angelo Warner and Hugo Robineau, and are especially coming off two consecutive victories against Limoges and Dijon.
A return of Jacob Grandison would allow to expand the rotation and relieve some offensive responsibilities, approaching an important schedule. On January 10, against Le Mans, BBD will finally know.
