Besiktas crushes Panionios 116-76 to keep EuroCup top seed hopes alive
Besiktas flaten Panionios and score 114 points in the effort
Besiktas left no doubt about their superiority against Panionios, securing a commanding 114-76 victory in Round 18 of the EuroCup. The Turkish side entered this contest with clear motivation, needing a win to maintain their chances of claiming the top seed in their group ahead of the playoffs, while their Greek opponents had been eliminated long ago with a disappointing 3-14 record.
The game didn’t start as expected for Besiktas, with Panionios keeping things competitive early thanks to excellent shooting. The Turkish side managed only a modest 31-26 lead entering the second quarter, despite their strong offensive output.
Alimpijevic’s tactical adjustments prove decisive
The turning point came in the second quarter when coach Dusan Alimpijevic had his players much more focused and concentrated. Besiktas slowed the game down and completely shut down Panionios on defense, while maintaining their outstanding 3-points shooting to build a massive 59-37 lead at halftime.

Besiktas concluded their EuroCup group phase with an impressive 13-5 record. However, their fate regarding the top seed is now out of their hands, as they must wait for tomorrow night’s result between first-placed Bourg and Buducnost in Montenegro. The Turkish side will return to domestic action on Saturday against Tofas in the Turkish Super League.
