Brae Ivey, a well-traveled point guard with solid statistics
According to German specialist journalist Rupert Fabig, Brae Ivey has caught the attention of several European clubs, including BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque. « In addition to the three German clubs I mentioned in the article, Brae Ivey has attracted interest from Gravelines-Dunkerque in France as well as Italian teams Sassari, Derthona and Reggio Emilia, » he stated on social media.
Born on August 25, 1996, in Huntington Beach, California, Brae Ivey plays point guard. After being trained at Edison High School, he attended Riverside City College and then San Jose State University (NCAA) between 2018 and 2020. Undrafted in the 2020 NBA Draft, he began his professional career in North Macedonia with KK Feniks 2010, then at FMP Skopje academy, before signing with KK MZT Skopje in 2021-2022.
A convincing 2024-2025 season in Germany
After stints in Poland (Czarni Słupsk), Lithuania (BC Juventus), and Spain (Girona), Brae Ivey settled in Germany in 2024 to play with Veolia Towers Hamburg. In 32 German Bundesliga (BBL) games, he averaged 15.7 points, 4 rebounds, and 4.8 assists, confirming his scoring and playmaking abilities. In EuroCup, however, he was less productive (11.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in 25 minutes), with two modest performances against JL Bourg (4 points on 1/6 shooting, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists in 25 minutes away at Ekinox, 7 points on 3/7 shooting, 1 rebound, 3 assists, and 3 turnovers in less than 20 minutes at home in the return game).
Free or likely to leave this summer, Ivey represents an interesting prospect for BCM, which is looking to strengthen its point guard position. Gravelines-Dunkerque’s interest comes amid strong European competition, as Sassari, Derthona, and Reggio Emilia in Italy are also in the running.
