Another tough blow for SIG, losing one of its big men « for quite a while »

William Pfister (6’8″, 31 years old) won’t be playing for Strasbourg again anytime soon. Ahead of Sunday’s 102–88 road loss at Nanterre, SIG provided an update on its roster health and announced the long-term absence of its French big man, who joined from Saint-Quentin in the summer of 2025.
William Pfister, another tough blow to SIG’s frontcourt rotation
Already without Gabe Brown for the trip to Nanterre, Strasbourg also confirmed the long-term absence of William Pfister. The club announced that the big man was injured during a training session and quickly underwent medical examinations.
Those tests revealed a sprain with ligament damage. While no precise timetable was provided, SIG Strasbourg indicated that the player will be sidelined “for quite a while.”
Arriving from Saint-Quentin last summer, Pfister had brought toughness, energy and physicality to the Alsace rotation. In Betclic ELITE, he averaged 2.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 19 minutes over 20 games. He also contributed in the French Cup with averages of 4 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1 assist in 16 minutes across four appearances.
A depleted SIG before the loss at Nanterre
In the same medical update, SIG also confirmed the absence of Gabe Brown, who suffered an ankle injury in the previous game and is currently being monitored on a day-to-day basis. Ben Gregg (6’10 », 23 ans) is still progressing through his rehabilitation.
With these absences, Strasbourg traveled to Nanterre with a shortened rotation, featuring Nelly Junior Joseph, Marcus Keene, Mike Davis Jr., Abdoulaye N’Doye, Jahel Trefle, JB Maille, Fousseyni Traore, Oscar Wembanyama, Erwan Merlin and Logan Bourgeois.
The announcement preceded another difficult outing for SIG, which fell 102–88 at Nanterre. It marked a fourth consecutive loss for the Alsace club, including results in the French Cup and Leaders Cup in February.
