The Russian club competes in the VTB League. It’s primarily a financial choice for Roberson, who is coming off a strong season in France, highlighted by an impressive performance at the William Jones Cup, which he won with the American team and was named MVP.
After arriving in France mid-season for a short stint with Cholet, Andre Roberson then signed with ASVEL, where he quickly found his place. In a rebuilding roster, the American player brought his experience and defensive solidity, while actively contributing on offense.
In Betclic ELITE, he averaged 10.1 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.9 assists over 35 games. In EuroLeague, facing a much higher level of competition, he proved valuable with 8.4 points and 6.2 rebounds in 25 games played.
Beyond European courts, Andre Roberson extended his success this summer by winning the William Jones Cup in Taiwan with the American team, an international competition. His impact was so significant that he was named MVP of the tournament.
This return to the spotlight has allowed him to take a new step today. Rather than extending in EuroLeague, he chose the financial stability of Zenit Saint Petersburg, where he will find a competitive championship, even if not affiliated with the highest European stage.
