Amath M’Baye (2.05m, 35 years old) will experience a new chapter in his long professional career. At 35, the former French international joins Paris Basketball, as revealed by Yannis Bourgeois this Saturday. According to our information, the contract has already been signed. A strong choice for the capital’s club, which adds an experienced power forward to its roster, recently with CSKA Moscow, who is preparing to make his Betclic ELITE debut while returning to EuroLeague.

A return to EuroLeague from Paris for M’Baye

After wearing Anadolu Efes Istanbul’s colors in 2022-2023, Amath M’Baye joined CSKA Moscow in summer 2023. In VTB League, he delivered a solid season: 10.5 points with 50.8% shooting (including 39.5% from 3-point range), 2.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 24 minutes. Currently, he is still playing in the playoff finals against Zenit St. Petersburg.

His stint at Anadolu Efes marked his first steps in EuroLeague, where he averaged 7.0 points and 2.8 rebounds in 33 games during the 2022-2023 season. He will bring his experience to an already well-stocked power forward position in Paris with the arrivals of Allan Dokossi (ex-Dijon) and Belgian Thijs De Ridder (2.03m, 22 years old).

A long international career before France

Partially trained in the United States between Wyoming and Oklahoma University, Amath M’Baye then traveled through Japan (Nagoya), Italy (Brindisi, Milan, Bologna), Turkey (Pınar Karşıyaka, Anadolu Efes) and Russia. With Virtus Bologna, he notably won the Champions League (BCL) in 2019 and reached the 2021 edition final with Karşıyaka.

With the national team, he played in the 2019 World Cup with France, winning the bronze medal. During the opening match against Germany, he scored 21 points, his record with the French team. His move to CSKA Moscow in 2023 made him ineligible for international competitions.

With this recruitment, Paris is betting on an experienced player, capable of contributing on both ends of the floor, particularly thanks to his outside shooting and European competition experience. This will also be M’Baye’s first time playing in the French senior championship.

Sebastian Herrera extended?

Still according to Yannis Bourgeois, Chilean international Sebastian Herrera should extend with Paris Basketball. This shooting guard arrived in the French capital in 2023. In Betclic ELITE, the German passport holder has stats of 6.9 points, 1.3 rebounds, 1.1 assists after 22 games played. In EuroLeague, his statistics this season were 4 points, 1.1 rebounds, 0.5 assists in 17 games played.
